Wow what a busy day! I’ve been MIA for a while I know but just a warning this will be a super long catch up post!!! By the way my foot is feeling a lot better! I’m so relieved. I’m still keeping off it and haven’t walked really and have done no exercise but I may do a short workout today (no running) just to see how it goes.
So back to Thursday night! Merilyn and Tom arrived safely and I hung out with them for a couple of hours at my parents house, where we had some red wine and some Lindt mini’s!
Yesterday morning started off nicely when I met them and my parents at Honey Bee in Northbridge for brekkie. I started with a skinny cap
and had the bircher muesli. Mmmmmmmmmm, so good again! My new favourite breakfast!! I had another skinny cap too.
Dad had scrambled eggs on toast
Mum and Mez had poached eggs on toast
Afterwards Mez, Tom and I headed up to Rosie’s for a little while and helped her prep for Eva’s party. I made these babies!
Honey Joys! Or as we call them, Honey Crackles. These are super easy, 75g butter, 1/3 honey, 1 T sugar, melted in a saucepan, stirred through 5 cups of corn flakes, put in patty pans and baked for 8 mins then left to cool!
Voila
I just had to show you Rosie’s measuring scale!
What an antique!
When Danni and Rex arrived we drove to The Breakwater at Hilary’s for lunch.
We were nearly blown off that bridge. It was so windy!!!!! And none of us brought a hair brush! We all looked a little dish-shevelled when we arrived .
We ordered the kids food straight up, fish and chips and nuggets and chips.
Wow these wedges were AMAZING! So yum! I probably had 1.5 – they were huge too! I was starving by the time we got to the restaurant as I hadn’t had a snack. Not a great way to hit a restaurant as we know!
We also ordered some bread, chorizo and olives. I had 1 piece of bread and a couple of olives.
For lunch I ordered ocean trout with scallops and it was delicious!
The presentation was beautiful, being encrusted in sesame seeds .
Perfectly cooked!
Mez and Rosie also had the trout and Danni had the Malabar Curry which was a seafood curry.
She said it was delicious. I skipped dessert and just had another coffee but Rosie ordered this gorgeous pear panna cotta.
Everyone agreed it was wonderful . We had a lovely girly lunch with bubbles while it absolutely poured with rain outside!
They are boats in the background in case you can’t tell.
We headed back to Rosie’s and I got started on making party bags for Eva’s friends to take home. First up I sorted out the stock
and lined up the 18 bags
Wine was needed for this task! It was labour intensive!
The finished product!
Lined up
Rosie’s husband Jeremy picked us up some snacks for dinner. We weren’t really in the mood for a full on meal
We had some almonds, walnuts, peanuts, hummos, creamed spinach dip, cheeses (including one with Cumin seeds in it)! Out of this world good! Ryvita’s, cream cheese, veggies.
Rosie set to work on Eva’s birthday cake. This is the beginning of Rosie’s famous chocolate mud cake which was her wedding cake, Danni’s wedding cake and she has made it for numerous friends wedding cakes! It is the biggest cake I’ve ever seen – and yes that is a huge saucepan full of butter and chocolate buds…
The tin and pre baked below
Post bake
I’ll show you the finished product later today after the party!
We snacked on some of this stuff with more wine over the rest of the evening. We all stayed the night up at Rosie’s house and made our way home this morning. Before we left though Jeremy made a lovely round of coffee’s
Very professional!
I continued my Apple Sultana Oat Bran kick this morning once home
Now – I must get started on my profiteroles!!! Have a wonderful Saturday .
