Stingy samplings: it continues!

I walked into the Wine & Spirit store today and Hurray! They were doing a tasting out of their tiny cups. I tried the Black Tower 2008 reisling, just to see what type of riesling they’re peddling.

mmmm... phone camera

As you may of read earlier, most rieslings consumed in the US are super sweet, but that’s not what most of the world drinks. So, I was curious to see if they were going to bow to the trend.

Instead I was pleasantly surprised! A dry reisling from Pfalz Germany (another shock since Germans often also err on the side of sweet). Don’t get me wrong, a sweet reisling has its place, I just prefer the less available dry version.

From my tiny cup, I tasted lots of lemony citrus and green apple components. A bit “hot” or unbalanced by the alcohol but by far one of the more enjoyable wines I’ve had from my local store so far, especially for the price!
