Laetitia Estate Pinot Noir 2006 Arroyo Grande Valley

I found this on sale at Tom Thumb grocery for $25. It’s normally $40! If you can still find any of it, buy some!

It had a beautiful nose of rose petals & berries, as well as a pleasant earthy note. Gorgeous on the palate! Ripe berries, earth, very rich and ripe. Complex layers of fruit, tightly interwoven enough that it’s hard to pinpoint individual flavors, yet nicely integrated, smooth, polished. Not really elegant, but integrated. Light on the acidity: the wine would be better if it were better balances with a bit more crispness. Light tannins, long finish. Richly complex, wonderful. The best Pinot under $40 I’ve had!

Wine Entusiast:

95 Points

“Laetitia’s best reserve ever. In a word, gorgeous. There’s a soft silkiness, a caressingly smooth mouthfeel that just seduces the palate into submission. Then the deliciousness sinks in, all red currants, cherries, mocha, licorice, pepper and smoke, set off with fine acidity and tannins. So compulsively drinkable, you can’t keep your hands off it.” (12/08) Located just four miles from the Pacific, Laetitia’s Arroyo Grande Valley Vineyard is in one of the coolest growing regions in the state. Combine the climate with the vineyard’s low-vigor soils and you get a complex, aromatically explosive wine with chalky tannins, distinctive minerality and refreshing acidity that’s ready to drink now.
